Caring for and nurturing others came very naturally to me. My interest in pregnancy, birth, and babies began during my pre-teen years when I became aware of my own desire to be a mother. In college, I majored in biochemistry and minored in psychology, hungry for knowledge about physical and mental aspects of human experience. This knowledge served me very well when I became a birth doula in 2006, especially when working in a hospital setting. As I worked to support over 50 women and their families during pregnancy, labor, and early postpartum, I marvelled at the impact and significance of the experience of carrying, birthing, and raising a child and I began recording these precious times photographically for my doula clients. Then, in 2008, I had my own experience of having a child. After my son's birth, I took 2 years to take care of him full time. Now that he is becoming more independent, I devote part of my time to my passions of doula work and photography.
